The Sunday Times has an article in it’s Style magazine today confirming that the number of people using a personal stylist is on the rise. They are not the rich and famous. They are everyday people who are seeking help in maximising how they wear the clothes they already own. They are people who feel they’ve maybe lost their way when it comes to knowing what ‘their style’ is. They are people like you and me who have maybe gone through changes in our lives that mean our bodies have changed or our lifestyle has changed. They are people who aren’t fashionistas but who absolutely want to look their best and feel confident in their clothes. They are people who just don’t have the time to dedicate to finding clothes and putting together outfits. They’re just normal people who have found a solution to the task of getting up and choosing what to wear every day – a personal stylist.
If clothes aren’t your thing, I get it!
We aren’t all the same. Maybe clothes just aren’t your thing and the idea of going clothes shopping fills you with dread. I can’t cook for toffee (ask my poor family or any of my friends!) and have very little interest in food beyond wanting to eat a healthy diet. So I have simply outsourced the problem to one of the recipe delivery services. I now get a box of ingredients delivered each week with step-by-step instructions on how to quickly produce a healthy meal. Problem solved. So if clothes aren’t your thing, consulting a personal stylist can definitely solve your problem. I can help you to use the clothes you already own to create outfits that feel like you and, if needs be, add a few things to create a capsule wardrobe that makes it very easy to get up, dressed and out each day.
Maybe your body has changed and you are feeling a bit at sea with your wardrobe?
Our bodies naturally change over time so the clothes that once worked so well and you felt happy in perhaps aren’t feeling or looking the same? Maybe you’ve had children, are going through/have gone through the menopause or have simply changed shape? This is totally normal. With a few tweaks here and there it’s very easy to learn a new recipe of styles that look great and absolutely still feel like you.
Your lifestyle has changed and you’re left with a wardrobe of clothes that now don’t work?
Maybe you’ve changed jobs or your job requires a less/more formal style of dress than previously? With lots of people now spending a significant of time working from home and with dress codes generally becoming less formal, you may have a wardrobe full of more formal clothes that you simply aren’t wearing but you don’t have replacements? Maybe you’re on maternity leave? Maybe you are going through a divorce? Maybe you have retired? Maybe you’re moving from a city to the country or vice versa? All of these changes can mean that your wardrobe no longer works. Again, a few suggestions on how to wear your clothes in a different way through a wardrobe edit could be helpful? And/or I can recommend a few new things for you to invest in that fit your new lifestyle and that you’ll wear and wear again. This can make a massive difference to how you feel about yourself.
You like clothes but don’t have time to shop and/or put outfits together?
Life is busy! Time is always the thing in short supply isn’t it? So if clothes shopping or finding the time to put outfits together falls lower down your priority list I get it … and can help you. Maybe you’d like help to review your style and edit your wardrobe with me creating outfits for you as we go? Or maybe you’d like a digital wardrobe app to catalogue your clothes and me there to then create lookbooks of outfits for every occasion on an ongoing basis – all available on your phone/laptop – I’m here – see my Stylist At Hand service!
There are so many reasons why clients consult me and other personal stylists. Yes it’s an investment – just like getting your haircut, which most of us do every 6-8 weeks – it’s an investment in how you feel about yourself, self-care as some call it, which I don’t see as frivolous at all. Getting up and dressed is a daily task. Why wouldn’t you choose to start the day feeling positive? We all deserve that in my opinion.
If you’re reading this and worrying about what I might be like as a personal stylist, have a read of the Google Reviews (see bottom of my home page or just Google my name) that my lovely clients have written about me. I’m genuinely a very down-to-earth person who doesn’t own, or have any desire to own, a wardrobe of designer clothes! I’m simply passionate about helping you to find clothes in the colours and styles that 100% feel like you and help you to feel and look your best. That’s me in my happy place and it’s why I absolutely love my job as much today as I did 18+ years ago when I first started out!
If you’re looking for any help with your wardrobe I’d love to be the personal stylist you choose, but it’s so important that you feel comfortable with me, so let’s have a chat – 07917 663330 – and get to know one another. If I’m not for you, I completely understand and am very happy to recommend other personal stylists I know.
