The burgundy, deep reds and plum shades have been around for a while and are big colours for the Autumn/Winter’26 season.
Whilst it’s tempting to find an outfit and colour combination you like and then wear that outfit on repeat, it can be fun to experiment too. So here are some outfit combinations using burgundy as the theme colour.

Here’s what to think about when choosing your burgundy-themed outfits:
1. YOUR STYLE PERSONALITY
You might be drawn to some of the outfits above more than others because of your style personality. Maybe you like an uncluttered paired back look and so are drawn to the simplicity of the 1st outfit with a chic pale pink gilet paired with a burgundy top and skirt (you could switch out the boots and bag if they feel too much). Or you might like an outfit that has more drama and so the burgundy oversized bow shirt paired with candy pink trousers and statement earrings, as per the last outfit, appeals more to you. I’d encourage you to really hone in on your preferences – choosing clothes that are really ‘you’ is so important. Not only can it help you feel more confident but it also leads to way less ‘costly mistakes’ that remain unworn in your wardrobe!
2. THE COLOUR YOU WEAR NEAR YOUR FACE
Maybe you’re unsure whether burgundy is a colour that suits you. The good news is that even if it isn’t one of the best shades for you to wear up near your face, you can always wear it below the waist (like in the 2nd outfit where it is paired on top with a tan bomber jacket and white long sleeve top) or maybe simply in some accessories.
There are ways to wear almost every colour, it really is just about learning which ones work best for you near your face and which ones work better elsewhere or in smaller doses. Want to know which colours suit you? Book a colour consultation here.
3. YOUR BODY CHARACTERISTICS
It’s true that some styles, fabrics and patterns will work better with your silhouette, height, scale and proportions than others. As burgundy is a darker colour it won’t draw the eye as much as a light or bright colour, for example. If it’s in a floaty or stretchy fabric it’ll generally go around curves more easily and so possibly feel more comfortable if you have a curvy silhouette. If it’s in a pattern then it can both draw the eye if what it’s paired with is comparably less interesting/plainer, or it can disguise (eg a patterned dress, as the eye isn’t drawn anywhere in particular).
