Do you like wearing patterns? I often get a bit of a marmite reply to this question – people either love them or hate them! I totally get this, as it’s yet another example of your style personality coming to the fore.
If you have a more creative or dramatic style personality you might well have answered a big ‘yes’ to this question and will be drawn to bolder patterns and perhaps even like to clash your patterns when you put together an outfit, mixing say stripes with an animal print maybe . If, on the other hand, you like an understated, chic and often monochrome look then pattern may not be for you, or if you do choose patterns, they may be more muted and subtle. If you have a romantic style personality then maybe the pretty florals and hearts are more your thing. We are all very different and our choice of pattern should reflect this.
So, how do you choose pattern and where should you wear them? What is the effect of wearing vertical stripes versus horizontal stripes? Are there classic patterns that are timeless? These are some of the many questions that Coral Turner, a couture fashion designer from London (www.coralturner.com), asked me when she interviewed me recently. If you’re unsure of pattern choices, grab a cuppa and have a listen to the interview where we talk about everything including colour, style and, of course, patterns!
