Every day this week the emails have been arriving about the start of the sales. We haven’t even had summer yet and already we are being tempted to “end of season” purchases! At least once the summer does arrive we should have a well stocked wardrobe of savvy sale purchases.
So, here’s a few suggestions for sensible spending of your hard earned cash. I have picked out pieces that will last you more than this season – in most cases – and where there are still a range of sizes available, but don’t leave it too long. And my top sale tip – if you wouldn’t dream of buying it at full price don’t click “add to basket”!
First up Fenn Wright Manson. They always do a huge range of dresses both for the office and special occasion. In this sale selection you’ve got several of the summer trends; black & white, floral, animal print and nude. The long sleeved dress may be a little warm for the summer but it’s a great bargain buy for cooler days. I loved the jersey shaped tops – a flattering sweetheart shaped neckline, perfect for most bodyshapes but particularly for fuller busts, plus it has a longish sleeve for anyone who is not keen on showing their upper arms.
Next Phase Eight who have just included more items – some up to 50% off. Top tip if you are going to Ascot or a wedding and still don’t have a hat check out Phase Eight as all theirs are now reduced. Other favourites – their linen trousers and tops, a lovely fresh white dress and a gorgeous floral which reminds me a little of the dresses from this summer’s Dolce & Gabbana collection but at only £49 it’s Riviera chic without the price tag!
Every one needs that wardrobe staple – a pair of jeans. I’ve written about finding the ‘perfect jeans’ before I know. So, if you have been lusting after a pair of designer jeans but have been put off by a price tag of upwards of £100 then now’s the time to take the plunge. House of Fraser has many of its designer jeans at half price! And even better they seem to have them available in a wide range of sizes. In fact the Salsa Secret Bootcut jeans that I have recommended time and again for those looking for jeans that sit higher on the waist (and so hold in tummy’s so well!) and that flatter the curvier figure are reduced to £55. With their lycra ‘hold it up’ (bottoms) and ‘hold it in’ (tummies) technology they’re definitely worth a try!
On to bags and this time a selection from John Lewis. There are some great classics in here, in fact the sales this season don’t seem to be full of all the fads no one wanted, there actually are some genuine bargains.
Finally to L.K. Bennett to satisfy shoe hunger! A selection of heels and wedges depending on whether you want smart or casual. LK Bennett never seem to have huge reductions but there are some items here with £60-£70 off. I’ve also included a few of their clothes. The LBD (little black dress) is an absolute classic and although animal print was big this season it never really dates so the dress and blouse would be great capsule wardrobe classics. I also loved the fine knit tops in a perfect neutral and an on trend orange-red.
So are you tempted? Is there something you have been hoping would be in the sale? I hope there is something here for you, let me know if you get a great bargain!
Kerrie
